The Minister of Finance, Mr Yaw Osafo-Maafo would on Saturday lead a government delegation to attend the Big Table III Meetings under the auspices of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

A statement issued in Accra on Friday said other members of the delegation would be Dr A. Akoto Osei, Special Advisor to the Minister of Finance and Ms Mary-Anne Addo, Deputy Director and Head of UN Desk of the Ministry.

The Big Table III is a high-level forum sponsored by ECA, which brings together African Ministers of Finance and Ministers of Economic Development and Planning, their counterparts from the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, ministers and senior representatives from bilateral and multilateral development agencies for informal dialogue on critical development themes of concern to Africa.

The statement said the Meeting would draw on the international consensus that had emerged out of Doha, the Monterrey Conference on Financing for Development, and the world Summit on Sustainable development, and building on the outcomes of the last two Big Table meetings.

It said the Big Table III would deepen the dialogue on the implications of this consensus for the commitments that underpin Africa's development cooperation framework with its external partners.

The meeting would also focus on approaches to monitor the performances of Africa and its partners towards meeting shared goals and desired outcomes in the context of mutual accountability.
