Scores of students of Oti Boateng Senior High School in Koforidua in the Eastern Region have had their hairs barbered on campus on orders of School authorities.
The students, mostly boarders, reported at the school from vacation with bushy hairs contrary to school regulations hence the compulsory barbering. Some of the day students with bushy hair were also asked to go home to be barbered.
Also, students who wore unprescribed sandals had them seized for a period before being released to them. The students have been ordered to wear black or brown leather sandals with flat-head.
Some parents who were not happy with action of the School authorities stormed the school to express concerns.
But the headmaster of the School John Hawkson Arthur explained that the decision is to enforce discipline among students. Some of the students, he said, came to school wearing corset heels.
He lamented that parents are becoming less interested in the welfare of their children.
