Kumasi, Jan 31, GNA - Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has said Ghanaians should be thankful to God for his abundant blessings that had helped the nation to enjoy relative peace.

He said the people have every reason to be grateful to God for the social harmony and political stability. The Asantehene said they should continue praying to Him for spiritual guidance for the realization of the national socio-economic development agenda.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu said these when the Ghana Union Conference (GUC) of the Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church called on him at his Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Saturday. The visit was to present to him a copy of the multi-lingual Bible consisting of 66 languages.

The Church additionally gave to the Asantehene, 40 Twi Bibles and Bible study booklets. Otumfuo Osei Tutu used the occasion to draw attention to the need for all to accept to uphold the truth, accountability and social justice.

The Asantehene vowed to provide the required leadership to help inject some pace into the progress of the people and asked for continued support.

He said the successes achieved within the 10 years of his reign had been through the collective effort, co-operation and encouragement of all the people.

He commended the SDA Church for its commitment to the nation's development, noting that since the advent of the church in the country, it had established many schools, health facilities and other social amenities to improve the lives of people.

Pastor Dr Seth Adama Larmie, President of the Conference, said the church had planned to reach out to over 20,000 people with Bibles in the different languages.

This, he said, is to help change their lives and draw them closer to God since the Bible has the ability to transform society. Pastor Larmie commended the Asantehene for his exemplary leadership that had brought peace to Asanteman. 31 Jan. 10
