"Our attacking instincts is poor"- Coach Sarpong

Accra, Jan. 25, GNA - Coach J. E. Sarpong has fingered the attacking instincts of his charges at Liberty Professionals' and sets his sight on taking advantage of the season's break to fix the deficiency to rescue the Club's ailing spell in the Premier League.

Liberty has laboured to stay in contention this season and the tough talking coach who has just been engaged by the Dansoman -based Club told GNA Sports in Accra that bringing the team's attack a sense of urgency remains key to his tactics of producing results.

"They don't seem to know when to build up and when they

must attack. Sometimes they start that well and yet they don't

seem to know when to maintain the pressure on the opponents and

take their chances." Liberty has piled 24 points in a possible 57 in 19 outings and

Coach Sarpong believes working on the mindset of the team

through the break could mean a better side when the League

resumes. The Club has won only three of their ten home games played, a

situation Coach Sarpong finds surprising. 93In this short period that

I have been with the Club I have noticed they play very poorly at

home and that is very surprising. "Clubs are naturally expected to fare well at home but that is the

opposite here. I don't know if it is because of some pressure at

home. Strangely, Liberty cannot boast of a large following so that

cannot be an excuse. "They play very well in the away games and when you expect

them to hit their stride when we are back home, they play so

poorly." Coach Sarpong highlighted the infusion of renewed confidence

to his team as another way of shaping the players to hit their stride

when the season is back on. Despite the wealth of talent in the team, Liberty has won only

six times, drawn six and lost seven games in 19 duels.
