The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) says it won’t entertain any excuses that will make the negotiations between the state and the association extend further into next year.

Deputy General Secretary of the medical body, Dr. Justice Yankson has maintained that all standing issues detailed in the ongoing negotiations in relation to their conditions of service demands, ought to be cleared for the outcome of the deal to be considered into the 2016 budget.

“We have always made it clear that this ought to be done quickly so it is factored into the 2016 budget,” Yankson insisted in an interview with an Accra-based Citi FM.

Meanwhile, the association has expressed delight that both parties have agreed to get the process back on track.

The Ghana Medical Association and government reopened negotiations on a codified conditions of service for public sector doctors on Monday, after the medical body called off its three-week-long strike on Friday.

The doctors, for three weeks, had withdrawn emergency and OPD cases, demanding a codified condition of service – a package they have been fighting for in decades.
