Our players at Black Stars ‘B’ camp not fully fit – Kotoko
Players of Asante Kotoko currently with the Black Stars ‘B’ team are not fully fit, spokesperson for the club has confirmed to starrsportsgh.com.
The Porcupine Warriors have not been in action since their July 12 fatal accident on the Accra-Kumasi highway. Most of the members of the team have since been undergoing medical assessment, a situation which has called for some of the club’s official games to be postponed.
But last week, five of Kotoko’s players were named in a list of 28 players to the Local Black Stars camp for preparations towards an upcoming CHAN qualifier against Burkina Faso.
The unfit quintet comprising goalkeeper Felix Annan and outfield players Emmanuel Gyamfi, Sadick Adams, Amos Frimpong and Awal Mohammed started light training just last week but got invited by coach Maxwell Konadu.
According to Obed Acheampong, the management of the Porcupine Warriors has informed the Local Black Stars technical team not to put the five players through rigorous training sessions for now.
“We made the current state of the players clear to the management of the Local Black Stars before allowing them to honour the invite.
“They are not fully fit but the point is per the program we had for them that is what they are going to continue doing – start with light training and then later to ball works,” he told starrsportsgh.com
The Black Stars ‘B’ are set to face Burkina Faso in Ouagadougou on August 11 before hosting a return clash on the 18th.
