Out-going South African High Commissioner calls on Mills

Accra, March 16, GNA - President John Evans Atta has commended the outgoing South African High Commissioner to Ghana, Zodwa Lallie, for her good works during her duty tour of Ghana.

The High Commissioner who has been in the country for about a year, has been 93redirected".

"You have to be proud of yourself; you endeared yourself to the peo= ple of Ghana, and we wish you well", President Mills said on Tuesday when the High Commissioner paid a farewell call on him at the Castle, Osu. President Mills extended his greetings to South African President Jacob Zuma, and observed that Madam Lallie had been instrumental in the invitation for him from the South African President to visit to that country. "I thank President Zuma for giving you to us," President Mills sa= id.

Foreign Affairs Minister Alhaji Mohamed Mumuni said the outgoing High Commissioner had left an indelible mark in the Foreign Affairs Ministry and in Ghana's diplomatic circles.

He described her as having an enchanting and electrifying personality, and had been very helpful in the improvement of Ghana-South Africa relation= s and the revival efforts of the Joint Commission of Ghana and South Africa. Alhaji Mumuni expressed the hope that Madam Lallie would carry with her, fond memories of Ghana.

Madam Lallie on her part expressed gratitude to the South African President for the opportunity to serve in Ghana.

She said her service in Ghana was a blessing and a privilege, and added that she had met some of the finest diplomats during her service in the country. "I've been redirected, but I hope being in Ghana will help me do m= y work well," she said.

President Mills presented a traditional stool called 93assesedwa" to Madam Lallie for her service to the nation, and in turn received a gift of a South African 91vuvezela' trumpet and a special hat from the High Commissioner.
