Over 100 WASSCE candidates sacked from exams hall over unpaid fees

Over hundred candidates who are writing the ongoing West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) at Tepa Senior High School in the Ashanti Region were sacked from examination hall over unpaid school fees.

A source in the school told Abusua FM’s Osei Kwadwo that they were sacked from the examination hall when they were about to write Government paper.

The source said the headmaster of the school Mr. Oduro Antwi walked out the candidates and warned them not to come back without full payment of the school fees.

Information gathered by Ultimatefmonline.com indicates that the headmaster told the students that they would be allowed to write the Government paper when it is 5 minutes to end the paper.

However, some of them, who did not go home but stood outside the examination hall pleading, were called inside after an hour and some minutes, while their colleagues were halfway through the paper.

According to some of the students “we all know that government has announced a fifty percent reduction in school fees for third-year Senior High School (SHS) students so we don’t understand why we have been sacked from examination hall”.

They said the headmaster called them to write the paper when their colleagues were almost done with the paper.

“We called our parents that we have been sacked from examination hall and they told us that we want to cheat them because the government has slashed half of our school fees. Some of us even couldn’t get their parents to report the case to them. Now that the headmaster has called us, what are we going to write because our colleagues are almost done with the paper” they said.

Several efforts to get the Tepa Headmaster Mr. Oduro Antwi to respond to the issue proved futile.
