Ghana’s mobile money transactions hit GH¢354.1 billion in August
The Bank of Ghana’s latest Summary of Economic and Financial Data has shown that mobile money transactions reached GH¢354.1 billion in August 2025.
Although the August figure was slightly below the GH¢355.4 billion recorded in July, usage of mobile money platforms continued to expand.
Additionally, transaction volumes increased sharply to 831 million, up from the 778 million recorded the previous month.

This reaffirms the central role of digital payments in the local economy.
The data noted that total registrations climbed to 77.7 million, with 25.1 million accounts actively in use, reflecting increasing financial inclusion through digital channels.
Cross-network transfers under the mobile money interoperability framework also strengthened, with values rising to GH¢4.9 billion in August from 26.4 million transactions.
Analysts have noted that while transaction values dipped marginally, the surge in activity and user engagement highlights growing public confidence in mobile payments for personal, business, and remittance purposes.
They added that the resilience of mobile money amid economic pressures reinforces its role as a cornerstone of Ghana’s financial landscape.
