Over 500 people in Kwahu Apradan and surrounding communities in the Kwahu West District, have benefitted from a health screening exercise organised by Gibicts Centre for Community and Youth Development (GCCYD), a Non- Governmental organisation with support from Star 2 Medical Centre.
The exercise, which formed part of the NGO's social intervention programmes was in collaboration with Humanity Project Africa, a Nigerian based NGO.
A team of health workers from the Star 2 Medical Centre screened the beneficiaries for hypertension, diabetes, hepatitis and malaria.
Those beneficiaries with serious conditions were recommended to seek further medical attention at health facilities.
Mr Solomon Kwame Otu, the Chief Executive Officer of the Medical Centre commended the people for the massive patronage of the exercise.
He explained that attendance is a demonstration of how serious people take their health.
Mr Out was particularly happy about the calibre of people that trooped in to check their health including; children, adults and the aged.
Mr Foster Oteng, the Chief Executive Officer of GCCYD said his outfit had a key role to play in social development by touching lives and influencing positive change in society.
The NGO, he disclosed, embarked on various activities such as donations to the vulnerable in society and offering vocational and technical trainings for the youth in the Birim North and part of the Kwahu West District.
He said they also introduced the school feeding programme in two basic schools at Adadekrom to help increase enrollment and to promote effective teaching and learning.
Mr Oteng hinted of plans to train the Youth in animal husbandry to help create employment and to minimise the indulgence of the youth in illegal mining, also known as 'galamsey'.
He therefore called for a collaborative effort from other NGOs and philanthropists to help support the vulnerable in society.
