Apostle Isaac Owusu Bempah, leader of the Glorious Word Power Ministries International on Saturday funded the registration and renewal of nearly thousand people under the National Health Insurance Scheme.

The beneficiaries which included children, pregnant women, orphans and persons with disabilities were drawn from Odorkor where the church is situated, Dansoman, Ablekuma, Sakaman and their environs.

Speaking after successfully going through the registration process, the renowned man of God explained that the initiative forms part of his agenda to ensure that the people have access to quality healthcare.

He noted the NHIS under the Akufo-Addo-led government has been revamped hence the need to make it accessible to every Ghanaian.

He also added the free registration exercise is one of many ways he is giving back to the society.

“The National Health Insurance is very good. It’s President Kufuor who introduced and Akufo-Addo has strengthened it. So as a church who loves God and the nation we decided to register people who are in need of the card for free. We want people to enjoy free healthcare. These are some of the things we can do for the area and the country”.

“The church’s duty is not to only win souls for God but also help people in need. This is our own little way of helping the President who is doing a great job. To be honest, despite the short period in power, Akufo-Addo has allowed God to use him to do many positive things and we want to commend him”.

The Public Relations Officer of the Ablekuma North Health Insurance Directorate, Evans Adjei commended Owusu Bempah and his church for the project and urged other religious leaders to take a cue from his charitable works.

“The purpose is to get as many people as possible registered. The health insurance is very good and comes with many benefits. It’s a laudable idea by the Prophet. The amount involved is so huge so for him to have done this is incredible. I want to encourage other churches and pastors to learn from him”.

The free NHIS registration is the latest in a series of charitable works undertaken by Reverend Owusu Bempah.

In August this year, the prophet on the occasion of his 50th Anniversary Celebration refurbished a clinic at the Ankaful Prisons Complex.

He also made a GHC5000 donation to ailing Ghanaian actor Psalm Adjeteyfio.

Among the beneficiaries of the NHIS registration is veteran high life musician KK Fosu who showered praises on Owusu Bempa for his philanthropic works.
