Accra, Jan. 6, GNA - A three-member delegation from the Pan African Parliament (PAP) in Midrand, South Africa, would arrive in Ghana on Thursday to participate in the inauguration of the Fourth Parliament of the Fourth Republic.

Mr Abdel-Aziz Sacca-Kina, Fourth Vice President of PAP would lead the delegation, which has Madam Rosine Vieyra Soglo, Ex-First Lady of Benin and Mr Ishmael Tidjani-Serpos, Vice Chairperson of PAP Committee on Rules, Privileges and Discipline, as members.

The delegation would be in Accra for two days and would present to the Speaker of the new Parliament, warm regards from the Speaker of PAP and felicitations from the Bureau and entire membership of PAP. Speaking to the GNA on phone from Midrand, Mr Rex Owusu-Ansah, Interim Clerk of PAP, said the delegation was sent at the invitation of Ghana's Parliament.

He expressed the hope that the visit would foster closer relations between the two Legislatures and promote the culture of consultations and collaboration necessary for the development of the two institutions. Mr Owusu Ansah said he would very soon finish the assignment given him by the Government of Ghana and PAP and return to his job as the Head of the Local Government Service and the Chairman of the GNA Board of Directors.

In November 2004, PAP sent a request to the Government of Ghana to release Mr Owusu Ansah, former Clerk of Ghana's Parliament, "to proceed to South Africa to set up the Pan-African Parliament".

Mr Abraham Ossei Aidoo, Mr Adjei Yeboah, Ms Ama Benyiwa-Doe, Alhaji Yakubu Malik and Mr John Mahama, all members of the Third Parliament of the Fourth Republic, represent Ghana in PAP.
