Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has visited fashion personality Nana Akua Addo and her family following reports of alleged domestic abuse, assuring them of the government’s continued support and assistance.
During the visit, Dr Lartey interacted with Nana Akua Addo and her family, emphasising the need to protect their safety, dignity and emotional wellbeing as the matter remains under investigation.
Dr Lartey stressed that particular attention must be given to the welfare of the children, noting that they should not be made to bear the consequences of conflicts or violence involving adults.
She assured Nana Akua Addo and her children that the Ministry would provide the necessary psychosocial and social welfare support to help them cope with the situation and safeguard their emotional wellbeing.
Gender Ministry reacts to Nana Akua Addo's assault case
Dr Lartey further indicated that the Ministry would work with the Ghana Police Service and other relevant institutions to ensure that the family receives the necessary protection and assistance while due process is followed.
She also disclosed that the Ministry intended to engage Nana Akua Addo’s husband, who was unavailable during the visit, to ensure that appropriate support was extended to those affected.
