On Wednesday, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta, Minister for Finance appeared before parliament to provide detailed information on the recent US $ 2.25 billion bond issued by the government.

The Finance Minister further told parliament that the recent 2.25 billion dollar bond issued by government was done through a competitive and transparent bidding devoid of infractions and improper procedure.

According to him, there were no breaches of integrity, either on government's part or on the part of Joint Book Runners (JBR), the primary dealers of the bond.

Also to be discussed is the Payroll fraud uncovered at Youth Employment Agency (YEA), An internal audit carried out by YEA has exposed a huge payroll fraud which is believed to have cost the country GHC50 million.

The amount is believed to be a sum of unearned salaries paid to unposted beneficiaries, funds for official use which were paid into personal accounts, and procurement without adherence to due process.

So far, the Agency under the new managers has deleted some 16,839 names from the payroll.

The Chinese Ambassador, on Tuesday, donated items, including desktop computers, printers, UPS and a cheque for GHc10,000 to the office of the Attorney General.

The donation comes at a time when China has been heavily criticized for the involvement of its nationals in illegal mining activities in Ghana.
