The Eastern Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Akuribah Yaagy, has called on members of the Police Women Association (POLAS), to use their position to mentor school children at the Police basic schools.
He said by getting closer to the children and interacting with them, it could help boost their confidence, and motivate them to study hard.
DCOP Yaagy made the call at the commissioning of a kitchen for the school, as part of the 25th Anniversary celebration of POLAS at Koforidua.
The kitchen was constructed at the cost of GH¢3,500.00 with funding from POLAS.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mrs Eunice Annor, of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) and Chairman of the Association, entreated all police women to join POLAS, because it was for their welfare.
She urged police women to be active members, united and contribute their quota to the development of the service.
Police Superintendent Emmanuel Adu Awuku, Manager of the school, expressed the gratitude of the management of the school to POLAS for coming to their aid with a kitchen.
The school has a current population of 70 pupils at the crèche, nursery one and two, and kindergarten one and two levels.
