Two opposition parties, the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) and the People’s National Convention (PNC) have formed an alliance to contest the parliamentary election in the December 7 polls.

The merger will see both parties campaign and vote for parliamentary candidates of the other in some constituencies across the country.

The two parties said “Ghana needs PPP and PNC members in parliament to advocate for needed changes to the 1992 constitution, ensure that the health, social welfare, and employment needs of the majority of our people become priorities and affirm the multi-party nature of our democracy. We urge the good people of Ghana who are valid voters to vote massively for PPP and PNC candidates on 7 December 2016.”

A statement co-signed by both parties have therefore urged their “members, supporters and the general public” to take note of the development in the run-up to the elections and campaign for candidates in designated constituencies.

“The PPP will campaign, support and vote for the PNC Parliamentary Candidates in the following constituencies:

1. Nadowli/Kaleo

2. Sissala East

3. Builsa South

4. Bolga Central

5. Talensi

6. Walewale

The PNC will campaign, support and vote for the PPP Parliamentary Candidates in the following constituencies:
