The much awaited anti-corruption demonstration organised by the Progressive People's Party (PPP) will hit the streets of Accra, on Thursday October 3 with demonstrators expected to call on public office holders to be accountable in the management of public funds.

The party expects thousands to turn up for the demonstration which will start at the Obra Spot at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra at 7 am and proceed through some principal streets of the capital.

William Doworkpor, spokesperson for the PPP-led coalition that is organising the demonstration told Joy News one of the critical issues they are concerned about is a need for the Attorney General's Department to be separated from the Ministry of Justice.

He said this will remove the political impediments that prevent the prosecution of public office holders found to be corrupt.

William Doworkpor said they will not be submitting any petitions to government since the issues the demonstration is trying to highlight have already been discussed extensively.

DSP Freeman Tettey, Police Public Affairs Director says the Police are expecting a peaceful and incident-free demonstration. He said series of meetings held with the organisers of the demonstration would yield good results. He cautioned demonstrators against doing anything that will disturb the prevailing peace.
