The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has vowed to cause a major political upset with a comfortable win of the December 7 general elections.
Mr. Osei Nkrumah, Ashanti Regional Communications Director, said the two major political parties; the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), would have a shock by the margin of PPP's win.
He said the PPP was in for serious business and that anyone discounting the party was out of touch with reality.
Mr. Nkrumah told the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi that they had been working hard on the quiet and winning over more voters.
Many Ghanaians, he said, had become disappointed in both the NDC and NPP, for failed policies and largely unfulfilled election promises when they had the mandate to rule.
“They pledged to make the economic conditions of the people better but could not and one wonders what they would be doing differently this time round.”
Mr. Nkrumah said Ghanaians would send a powerful message to them that they could not be taken for granted.
The PPP and its presidential candidate, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, offered the best bet for the nation, he said, adding that, he had no doubt that the party would receive overwhelming endorsement by voters.
Ghana’s problem, he noted, had been that of right leadership to efficiently manage the rich human and natural resources to create wealth and that was what Dr Nduom would be providing.
Mr. Nkrumah said the PPP had made significant inroads in Ashanti and was on course to secure the largest share of votes in the region.
