The Director of Operations for the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Nana Ofori Owusu, a few days ago, called for the resignation of Prof Kenneth Attafuah.
According to him, the Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority (NIA) should resign because he has failed in discharging a ‘simple task’ assigned to him.
“As a nation, we continue to joke with resources without taking proper account of the monies that we are spending as a nation. This 1.2billion spent by the NIA, this man and this institution cannot complete a simple registration. The professor has failed . . . having failed in his work, he must step aside. Professor has not done his work (well); he must step aside" he said on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo' about a fortnight ago.
A week later, Nana Ofori Owusu engaged in a rather dramatic volte-face, pouring effusive praise on the NIA boss.
Asked by Nana Yaw Kesseh, sit-in host of Peace FM's flagship programme on Monday, his sudden change of mind, the PPP Director of Operations indicated that at the time he called for the head of Prof Attafuah, he (Ofori-Owusu) was not well informed, and now having had the benefit of ‘further and better particulars', he has ‘withdrawn’ his earlier statement.
