The Private Newspaper Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG) has congratulated the Muslim community on the occasion of the celebration of Eid Mubarak marking the end of the thirty days fasting period.

A statement copied to the Ghana News Agency commended them for remaining steadfast during the fast, which served as spiritual renewal with its attendant blessings and breakthroughs.

“May the celebration of this day to climax the period and particularly the spiritual renewal the world is experiencing today and the days ahead, as a result of this spiritual exercise, help us to unite more as a people to fight against all forms of injustices, corruption, media tyranny and oppression, unemployment and any form of utterances and conducts that can serve as a recipe for chaos in this country,” it said.

The statement said it was important as the country and all political parties were preparing to begin vigorous campaigns towards the December 2020 general elections.

It noted that PRINPAG was of the view that, the opportunities Allah offered to all Muslims during this one month of fasting and prayers should be made practicable to the benefit of the religion, the nation, and the noble profession of journalism.

“It is the prayer of the Executives of PRINPAG that, an effective and relevant medicine would be found to help flush out COVID-19 from our country and the world at large”, it said.

The statement urged the public to adhere strictly to the protocols of COVID-19, which included effective social distancing, frequent washing of hands, wearing of face masks, sanitizing our hands with alcohol-based sanitizers, and above all, staying at home.
