Mampong (Ashanti), 7 Dec. '98 - The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of Saint Monica's Teacher Training College at Asante Mampong, has donated a 2,000-gallon water tanker attached with a pumping machine and other accessories worth 35 million cedis to the college. Mr Alfred Agyekum, PTA chairman, who made the presentation, urged the Principal of the college, Mrs Agnes Ofosu- Koranteng, to ensure its judicious use. He commended her for her efforts to integrate the school into the community and also for maintaining good rapport with the staff and the association. Mrs Ofosu-Koranteng thanked the PTA for the donation and said it will help to solve the perennial water problem of the college. The principal said the college spent seven million cedis last year to hire the services of a tanker to supply water. She expressed her gratitude to the PTA for sponsoring extra classes for the students which has helped teachers to complete their syllabus on schedule. The PTA has also provided a 25-inch colour television, video deck and a 33-seater Mercedes Benz bus to the college.
