The Vice President, Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, has revealed that it was the late P.V. Obeng, a Senior Presidential Adviser, who introduced him to the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) in 1983, describing him as an extraordinary person who had the passion to see Ghana develop.

He said the late P.V. Obeng would be missed because of his selflessness and dedication to work.

Mr. Amissah-Arthur made the statement when he and the wife, Mrs Matilda Amissah-Arthur, visited the wife and family of the late P.V. Obeng to console them at his Tema Community 2 residence.

Mr. Amissah-Arthur, who also signed the book of condolence, stated.

He noted when he became the Vice President and invited Mr P.V. Obeng he did not hesitate to bring his ideas to ensure that the government succeeds.

Mr. Amissah-Arthur said about a month before the National Economic Forum (NEF) at Senchi, he called Mr. P.V. Obeng, who was by then in the house recovering from a small stomach upset, and told him about the programme.

He said when P.V. Obeng resumed work, he came to his office and they planned for the Senchi forum.

He noted that during their discussions, he appealed to P.V. Obeng to take over the Sixth item, the post-forum implementation, which according to him, was the most difficult aspect of the whole forum.

Mr. Amissah-Arthur stated that the late P.V. Obeng stayed throughout the entire four-day forum to ensure that everything went successful.

He said he would join the wife and the family on Saturday to hold the one week service of his passing at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, after which the family would fix the date for the burial.
