Painter jailed for defiling two girls

Accra. Oct. 3, GNA - A Circuit Court in Accra on Monday sentenced a 30-year-old painter to 10 years imprisonment in hard labour for defiling two girls aged five and seven years. David Ashitey Trebi, who was additionally charged for indecently assaulting a four-year-old girl was sentenced to six months imprisonment by the same court.

Trebi pleaded guilty to two counts of defilement and indecent assault and the court convicted him accordingly. Prosecuting Inspector Isaac A.A. Ahor told the court that at about 0930 hours on September 29, this year, one of the victims aged five, wanted to nature's call and asked her colleagues, aged four and seven to accompany her to a nearby public toilet.

On their way, they met Trebi, who offered to buy them some food. Trebi assisted the victims to cross the road to a nearby Shell Filling Station and bought beans, biscuits and groundnuts for them. He escorted them to a nearby bathhouse, undressed them and inserted his fingers into their private parts. Not satisfied with his act, he defiled two of the victims aged five and seven years. He then sent them to their homes.

The prosecution said the parents of the five-year-old victim found their daughter was bleeding and questioned her. She let the cat out of the bag and they caused the arrest of Trebi. A medical report on the victims indicated that the hymen of the seven-year-old victim was torn.
