Palaver Editor elected NDC candidate

Saltpond, May 23, GNA - Mr Jodjo Bruce Quansah, Editor of Ghana Palaver was on Saturday elected as NDC parliamentary candidate to contest the Mfantseman West seat in the December elections. Mr Quansah 50, had 244 votes out of the total 299 votes cast to beat Ms Harriet Atta Arkorful, 40, former project officer of the 31st December Women Movement (DWM) who polled 49 votes.

The election was supervised by officials of the Electoral Commission led by Mr John Mensah, Mfantseman District Officer. Mr Baaba Jamal, Deputy General Secretary of the NDC said the party was poised to wrest power from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP). He said the NPP had brought economic and social hardships to the people due to its bad policies and programmes.

Mr Jamal who is also the NDC parliamentary candidate for Akwatia Constituency said the NPP had disappointed the nation.

He said the Electoral Commission could not provide Ghanaians with coloured photos for the issuance of voters Identity Cards, because of the poor organization of the exercise.

Mr Jamal urged NDC supporters to come together to fight the "common enemy" after the primaries.

He also asked them to intensify their membership drive to win more supporters for the party to enable it unseat the NPP from power. Mr Quansah commended the delegates for the confidence and trust reposed in him and pledged to work hard to retain the seat.

He called on supporters and executives of the NDC in the constituency to close their ranks and fight as a team to ensure the victory of the party.
