Panafrica-Ghana (PG), in collaboration with Generational Achievers Foundation (GAF), has launched a project dubbed: “Save the Little Heart Benefit Concert 2012”.
The project is aimed at helping to raise funds and logistics in support of the Ghana Heart Foundation (GHF) and people with heart disorders.
Mr. Ras Caleb Appiah-Levi, President of PG, said the event was also to create awareness to generate public support for children suffering from cardiovascular diseases in the country.
He said the event is to commemorate World Heart Day which falls on September 29 under the auspices of the World Council of Pan-african Organisation.
He said the GHF had embarked on building 12 cardiovascular centres in the country to support patients suffering from heart diseases and that as a result of the project, the Foundation would organize a concert on the “Save the Little Heart” to solicit for funds and logistics on September 29 at the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons in Accra.
He said the event would feature musicians like Abrantie Amakye Dede, Nana Taffour, Felix Owusu, Cecelia Marfo, Okyeame Kwame, Superintendent Kofi Sarpong, and Chris Levy from Cote d’Ivoire.
Mr. Appiah-Levi appealed to corporate bodies and the public to come and support financially and in kind on September 29 in helping to put smiles on the faces of persons with heart diseases.
Mr. Maxwell Acheampong, President of GAF, said statistics reveal that 1% of all children born every year in the country had heart diseases; meaning out of 450,000 children born each year, about 4500 children suffered from hole-in-heart disease that needed an open heart surgery.
He said the foundation would organize a campaign to cover both the northern and southern part of the country with educational programmes discussing issues such as the causes, effects, symptoms and solutions to cardiovascular diseases.
