A class four Student of Ecole Ronsard, Panin Acheampong, has won this year’s Epelle le, the French version of the English Spelling Bee organized by the Young Educators Foundation.

He beat two others, Awura Adjoa Larbi of FALSYD Foundation School and Lady Marcelle Antwi-Oppong an individually enrolled student from St Martin de Porres School in the finals to triumph.

The three were among over 180 students who enrolled to join this year’s edition.

The students were tested on their ability to spell words both orally and written formats in French.

Panin, a student of Ecole Ronsard in East Legon, won on his second attempt in the competition.

The organizers of the competition urged parents to encourage their children to participate in competitions such as this.

They also advised the students to keep practicing and learn harder so they better themselves and improve their chances of success in Epelle-le.

Eugenia Techie Menson, founder of the spelling bee competition in Ghana urged parents and teachers to encourage their children and students to study French since knowledge of the language makes it easier for Ghanaians to communicate with their immediate neighbouring countries, who are francophone.

This year's edition was held at the French School in East Legon, Accra.
