Accra, July 26, GNA - Parents have been called upon to regulate the number of hours their children spend in watching television especially in the night. Mrs Victoria Asamoah Boahene, Headmistress of the Living God Nursery Preparatory and Junior High School, who made the call on Saturday, during the school's first graduation ceremony in Accra, said pupils were spending much time on television and thereby failing to do their academic work.
The Headmistress said the upbringing of pupils must not be the responsibility of teachers alone, instead parents must team up to ensure their overall development. Mrs Boahene said excellence in academic and extra curriculum activities was the main principle guiding the administration of the school. She appealed to the government to assist the school to complete infrastructure development projects, it embarked upon, to accommodate the ever-growing pupil population.
Established in 1999 with an initial population of 38 pupils, the school currently has a population of 500. Out of the 64 pupils who graduated and were presented with certificates, 14 were from junior high school while 50 were from kindergarten. Master Michael Diego-Brown and Esther Lawer were adjudged the best pupils.
