Manso-Datano (Ash), Aug. 12, GNA- The Manso-Datano Methodist Primary School in the Amansie West District of Ashanti has celebrated its Girl-Child Day with a call on parents to retain their girl-children in school.

Mr Frank Ebah, headteacher of the school said the notion that home is the place of a girl was "outrageous". He said this at a meeting with parents as part of Girl-Child Day celebration in the District. He said the notion that women would eventually get pregnant and bring forth and end up in the kitchen were not tenable, since women could perform better.

He therefore asked parents to send their children especially girls to school.

Mr E.K. Amoah, the Amansie West District Director of Education asked parents to invest in the education of their children instead of using the little resources they have on material wealth.

Mrs Comfort Omane Boamah, the District Girl-Child Education Co-ordinator, appealed to parents to reduce the workload on their daughters at home to enable them to have time to study. Nana Akrasi III, Anyinasehene, who deputised for Nana Bi-Kusi Appiah, Manso-Nkwantahene commended the government for introducing the girl-child education programme.
