Accra, March 08, GNA - Parliament on Wednesday unanimously voted to approve the nomination of two persons nominated by the President to fill vacancies at the Supreme Court.
They are Mr Samuel Kwadwo Asiamah and Mrs Sophia Ophilia Adjeibea Adinyira, all Justices of the Appeal Court.
Presenting the report of the Joint Committee of Appointment and Judiciary, Mr Freddy Blay, Chairman, said the two demonstrated confidence, strong conviction and good knowledge of the law. He said they gave forthright answers to questions put to them by members of the Committee.
Mr Asiamah was born on June 6, 1938 and was awarded a bachelor of law degree from the University of Ghana. He was called to the bar in 1978.
He was appointed as a Magistrate grade two in 1979 rising through the ropes to become an Appeal Court Judge in 2002.
Mrs Adinyira had spent 32 years at the bar. She was appointed Assistant State Attorney in 1974 and rose to the position of Principal State Attorney in 1986. She was appointed to the High Court in 1989 and promoted to the Court of Appeal in 1999. She was born on September 01,1949.
