The Majority Leader in Parliament, Hon Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, has dismissed as untrue media reports that ‘the Speaker, Rt Hon Mike Oquaye led administration is giving away some new buses to Members of Parliament under the guise of an auction’.
According to Hon Mensah-Bonsu, to the best of his knowledge, the House has not yet decided on whether to either sell or auction the buses as reported by the Herald Newspaper.
Speaking on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia Programme, he revealed that parliament discovered some challenges with the buses 6 months after its purchase, adding that the maintenance of the vehicles was too high.
"So we decided to sell them in other to purchase new ones for the workers. It is true some 3 workers have applied as well as MPs, but I suggested to the House to allow those going on retirement to purchase them but nothing serious has been decided on them yet," he stated.
He reiterated that “Parliament has not made a final decision on how to dispose of the vehicles. The only agreement reached is to ask the State Transport Company to help in auctioning them, should it get to that point. Therefore the publication is false and must not be taken serious".
