Members of the women’s caucus of Parliament have complained about the seeming abandonment of their budget to tackle women issues in the country.

This came up following a debate on Thursday, October 31, 2013 on the floor of Parliament over the need for women to seek early treatment on breast cancer.

“The women caucus the whole of this year has drawn up a programme which breast cancer was on top of the agenda,” said Gifty Klenam, the Member of Parliament for Lower Akim Constituency.

“We haven’t received one penny in our accounts ever since we began this year,” she stressed.

She told TV3’s Evelyn Tengmaa that because of this the caucus has not embarked on any projects this year.

Meanwhile, women Parliamentarians and some of their male colleagues have called for more education on breast cancer in order to save the ignorant Ghanaian woman from dying from the disease.
