Parliament to mark anniversary

Parliament has lined up a programme of activities to mark the 10th Anniversary of the Restoration of Parliamentary Democracy in Ghana (1993-2003).

The Speaker, Mr Peter Ala Adjetey will make a presentation on highlights of the celebrations on GTV’s Breakfast Show on Monday, January 20.He will be joined by the Leadership of the House- the Majority Leader, Papa Owusu Ankomah, the Minority Leader, A.S.K Bagbin and the Clerk to Parliament, K.E.K. Tachie. The ceremonial opening of the Third Session of the Third Parliament of the Fourth Republic will be performed by the Speaker on Tuesday, January 21 at 10.00 am.

A public symposium on “10 years of Parliamentary Democracy in Ghana”, 1993-2003; An assessment will take place at the British Council Hall on Wednesday, January 22 at 4.30 pm. On Friday, January 24, 2003 a presentation of the Annual Public Forum on Parliament in Retrospect- to take place at the National Theatre at 10.00 am. An evening of drama by the Abibigroma Drama Group of the University of Ghana comes off at the National Theatre at 7:00 pm on Saturday, January 25.

The programme will be crowned with a Non-denominational thanksgiving Church Service at the Banquet Hall, State House at 3.30 pm during which “The Voices of Democracy”-Parliament Choir will be outdoored.
