Parliament will tap knowledge and experience of retiring Bagbin, Inusah - Majority Leader

Parliament is set to establish a consortium where retiring lawmakers will contribute their quota to the development of the Ghana after leaving parliament, Majority Leader of Parliament and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has hinted.

“The house will write to the Speaker if there is a need to ensure a consortium is established to tap knowledge and experiences of the likes of Alban Bagbin and Inusah Fusieni”, the Leader revealed.

According to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) lawmaker for Suame, who spoke in an interview monitored by MyNewsGh.com, the decision of lawmaker for Nadowli /Kaleo, Hon. Alban Kingsford Sumani Bagbin not to seek reelection as a great gap that will affect the legislature

“With all his experiences gathered for close to 24 years, Bagbin will leave a gap in parliament for deciding not to contest again”, Hon. Kyei Mensah Bonsu revealed.

The longest serving lawmaker at the close of nominations last week, did not pick a form to contest the 2020 general elections on the ticket of the NDC signifying his desire to quit the legislature after 2020.

Hon. Bagbin who suffered a stiffer opposition within his party in the run up to the 2016 elections, maybe quitting to allow peace prevail in the party though sources revealed to MyNewsGh.com that he will officially reveal his reasons for staying off.

MyNewsGh.com sources also revealed that internal politics in NDC and other factors might have compelled Hon. Alban Bagbin who is the serving MP not to contest at all.
