Big Ada, May 19, GNA - Madam Atsupe Gorleku Quarshie, New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Ada Constituency, has called on the electorate to vote for her in the 2012 election to bring development to the area. She said it was time the people of Ada gave a woman the privilege to represent them in Parliament to test her performance rather than always relegating women to the background.
Madam Quarshie, who made the appeal at a rally in Big Ada, said when given the nod she would represent the voiceless and the marginalized as well as be "a true mother for all the people of the Ada District." She said the NPP had promised fee-free education from the basic to the second-cycle level and that Ada under her leadership would not be left out. Touching on jobs in the area, Madam Quarshie told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that Ada was a fishing zone and that during former President John Agyekum Kufuor's administration there were plans of building a cold store complex and a fishing landing site before the NPP went out of power. She said when voted into Parliament, she would ensure that the project was brought on board and completed to the satisfaction of the people. Madam Quarshie expressed her profound gratitude to the chiefs and people in the area for attending the rally in their numbers.
