Accra, Oct. 18, GNA - A publisher on Wednesday advised the research staff of Parliament to remain non-partisan in their work by furnishing Members of Parliament with information and research materials devoid of any political colouring.

Mr Macliberty Misrowoda, Press Manager of the Global Evangelical Press House, said staff of the Research Department of Parliament needed to be professional in their approach to work by desisting from any political posturing to strengthen parliamentary democracy. He said it was also important for the staff to research widely in order to feed the MPs with a wide variety of information necessary to assist them in the discharge their duties.

Mr Misrowoda was speaking at a training workshop for the staff organised by the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD) and sponsored by USAID.

Dr Kwadwo Appiagyei Atua of the CDD said it was important that the skills of the staff were upgraded since they played a vital role in providing MPs with policy briefs, fact sheets and other vital information, which go a long way in strengthening the rule of law and respect for human rights.

Participants at the workshop were taken through various topics including those on data collection, editing and proof reading.
