Kwamekrom (V/R), Dec 06, GNA - One man was shot dead and several others sustained guns shot wounds when unidentified gunmen opened fire on a group of NDC supporters at Kwamekrom.
The dead was identified as Isaac Ochere while Evans Yaw Gyamwodie, Kelvin Kwame Latse, Harry Kofi and three persons, yet to be identified, are in hospital.
Mr. Vincent Papawo, Record Officer at Magaret Maquarp Catholic Hospital at Kpando, confirmed that the body of Isaac Ochere had been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.
A source at the Kpando police station confirmed the list of casualties but would not comment further.
The police say they are investigating the cause of the shooting. Evans Gyamwodie, who sustained gunshot wounds on his right leg and the left side of his waist, said they were going to Abotoase in connection with their duties as party agents when unidentified gunmen opened fire on them.
Meanwhile, tension is mounting in the area as some youth wore red armbands, headgears and sang war songs.
There are only two policemen stationed at the Kwamekrom Police Station and they have to wait for reinforcement from either Worawora or Kpando when there is trouble.
