Both present and past governments have come under severe attacks from Political and Economic Research Institute of Ghana (PERI-Ghana), a Kumasi-based think tank for the manner in which they have governed this country since its independence.
“We are running this country in a manner as if we took independence from the British just yesterday”, Board Chairman PERI-Ghana, bemoaned.
“Structures that we already had on the ground are being run over believing that it will bring development”, Mr. William Awuku Ahiadome claimed.
Speaking on Kumasi-based Ultimate FM’s morning, the Board chairman, attacked the government’s decision to change name the of Savanna Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) to a different thing.
“What is that the government of today will want to do in the entire SADA zone that could not be done in a more modified way under what used to be SADA”, he asked
“Is it that because one project got into trouble probably from some level of discretion or corruption then we have to rename it”, the Board chairman demanded for explanation from the government.
“Is it that if any project fails the only way to get that project running again is to rename it before we can restart it?”
“There is a structure in place and we have MMDCEs and the district assemblies running. …You must be a total novice in the expenditure area to begin to worship one million per constituency program. What is there they cannot supervise? There are already structures in place”,Mr. William Awuku Ahiadome stated.
