The National Union of Holy Child Past Students Association (NUHOPSA) has donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference in Accra.

The items, worth GHC60,000.00, was to support the Church's health facilities across the country in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

They were 120 gallons of liquid soap, alcohol-based hand sanitizers comprising 280 pieces of the 250mL and 300 pieces of the 500mL sizes, and 360 pieces of the 750mL WHO alcohol hand rub.

The rests were 680 pieces of surgical nose masks, 520 pieces of N95 nose masks, 10,500 pairs of gloves, 160 disposable gowns, 25 Veronica buckets and 75 pieces of jumbo size paper towels.

The Most Reverend Charles Gabriel Palmer-Buckle, the Vice President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference, who received the items, was grateful for the gesture.

He said the donation would help the Church to alleviate the pain and sufferings COVID-19 had brought on individuals and families.

The Most Rev Palmer-Buckle said though majority of the Church's health facilities were in the rural areas, the items would be proportionally distributed to all the health facilities to serve the purpose.

He, therefore, assured NUHOPSA of the Church's intercessory prayer for members.

The National President of NUHOPSA, Mrs Asor Anyimadu-Antwi, said the donation was the members’ widow's mite to support the efforts of the Church.

She said it also had plans of donating to the National COVID-19 Trust Fund soon.

The Association was represented by the immediate past National President, Mrs Doris Ashun, the National Treasurer, Mrs Freda Oppong Antwi, the President of the Tema Branch, Mrs Clara Anumel, and a representative from the Kumasi branch, Mrs Harriet Monica Ayitey-Mensah.
