Two members of one of the factions of the Musama Disco Christo Church (MDCC) have been arrested for defiling a court order restraining them from holding a music conference at the church’s headquarters at Gomoa Mozano.

They are Reverend Kweku Ainoo, a pastor of the Komenda branch and Collins Amoako, an elder and Choir Master at Akim Akyease, in the Eastern Region.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Owusu Donyina, Agona Swedru Divisional Police Commander made this known to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Mozano on Saturday after the arrest.

He said on Friday, April 13, he held a meeting with the breakaway faction and the mother church, informing them about the court order restraining the “breakaway” members from holding their four-day music conference at the main auditorium of the church at Mozano.

According to ACP Donyina, he cautioned them to comply with the order by changing the venue of the conference to avoid trouble, but they refused.

He said on Saturday, April 14, the Central Regional Police Taskforce and Personnel from the Swedru Divisional Command, deplored to Mozano to protect life and property, reported that the breakaway faction was holding the conference at the temple.

He said the Police tried to stop them but the two top members resisted, resulting into a scuffle between the police and some members of the church.

ACP Donyina said the arrested Pastor and Elder would be arraigned before the Agona Circuit Court on Monday.

Elder Paapa Asmah, a member of the Choir Council told reporters that the arrest of Rev. Ainoo and Elder Amoako by the Police was unfortunate and described it “as politically motivated”.

He said it was true that there was a court order, but it was served on non- members of the National Choir Council Board.

Elder Asmah said the Music conference was to foster unity between the two factions to ensure reconciliation and the development of the church.**
