Pastor calls for church/state collaboration

Kumasi, Sept 20, GNA – An Associate Pastor of Asokwa Tabernacle Hope Baptist Church in Kumasi, the Rev Francis Gyan Berko, has said there was the need for the church and state to work together towards a peaceful conduct of the 2012 polls.

He said no effort should be spared to protect the integrity of the election and safeguard the unity and cohesion of the nation.

Rev Berko, who spoke at a lecture on “Unity in diversity” at the Trinity Assembly of God Church at Akwatia-Line, said it was in everybody’s interest to ensure that inflammatory and hate speeches that tended to create unnecessary tension in the society ended.

The programme was organized by the Association of Christian Men’s Fellowship (ACMF).

The association made up of the Men’s Fellowship of the Methodist, Assemblies of God, Presbyterian, Pentecost, Baptist and Anglican churches.

Rev Berko advised the members to remain truthful to their faith and work towards their spiritual growth by avoiding unbridled obsession with material wealth.

They should also provide leadership to help transform the society saying “as men we should not relent in the struggle to bring about a change in attitude of Ghanaians.”
