Sunyani, April 19, GNA - The Reverend Thomas Owusu-Afriyie, founder and leader of 'Royal Generator Love International Church' in Sunyani has commended President John Agyekum Kufuor for promoting democracy in the country.

He said the inclusion of some "men and women of God" in the Council of State was enough proof that the doors of the government were always open for the promotion of Christianity. Rev. Owusu-Afriyie was preaching at the close of a four-day Easter convention of the Church at the Urban Council School in Sunyani. The convention was under the theme: "Experience the resurrection power of Jesus".

Rev. Owusu-Afriyie said the resurrection of Christ after three days of His death signified the true divine power, which was far above any earthly power.

"The resurrection power of Christ is a divine one, unlike earthly power, which has the backing of principalities and eventually bring problems to those who believe in it", he stressed. Rev. Owusu-Afriyie advised Christians to let the resurrection of Christ to rekindle their belief and faith in God.

"Christ sacrificed His life to atone for the sin of mankind, hence Christians should be guided by compassion, sacrifice and other virtues that would bring peace and reconciliation in families, communities and the nation as a whole", he said.

In another development, Rev. Charles Oppong-Poku, a Minister of Calvary Baptist Church in Sunyani has urged Christians to demonstrate the love, compassion and mercies of God to the entire humanity in order to curb the alarming rate of acts of immorality in the country. Rev. Oppong-Poku was delivering a sermon on the theme: "Jesus is coming soon", at the end of a five-day Easter Convention of the Church at Abesim.

He advised Christians and other religious bodies to render material and spiritual assistance to society to help raise the people's standard of living.
