The National Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has described Akufo-Addo’s conduct against the Coronavirus fight as pathetic.

Sammy Gyamfi says it is questionable why the president would urge citizens to wear a nose mask whereas he is mostly seen without one.

According to him, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s actions opposes his words hence confining the country into a state of confusion.

“Prez Akufo-Addo continues to lead with words rather than deeds. This is one of the reasons for the mess we currently find ourselves in. Pathetic!” the Communications Officer wrote on Twitter.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health (MoH) had earlier directed food vendors, commercial vehicle drivers, commuters on public transports, and every other facility accessible to the public to be in face masks.

The order was in compliance with the Public Health Act according to the Health Ministry.

“Pursuant to section 169 of the Public Health Act, 2013 (Act 851), the Minister responsible for Health by an Executive Instrument (E.I.61) declared COVID-19 a public health emergency. Section 170 (1) provides that the Minister of Health may order an individual to take a preventive measure in respect of public health matters,” it said.

Meanwhile, ninety-five more people recently contracted the Novel Coronavirus, sending Ghana’s total recorded cases from 2,074 to 2,169.

Regions with a rise in cases include the Greater Accra which has seen an increase of 57 cases raising its tally to 1,852.

The Ashanti Region’s case count is now 117 with Eastern Region recording 17 new cases sending its total to 87 and the Western North Region which now has 4 cases.
