Nkoranza (B/A) July 21, GNA - Patients are owing Saint Theresa's Hospital in Nkoranza 84.6 million cedis in unpaid medical bills, making the running of the health institution very difficult.

"The hospital is faced with financial problems following unpaid bills accumulated by patients who have not been able to pay up after discharge", Dr. Kofi Amoako-Gyampah, Medical Director in-charge said. He was briefing some leaders of the Nkoranza District Presbyterian Church led by the Reverend Kwaku Addo-Lartey, District Minister, about activities at the hospital during a visit.

Ms Ama Kathy Osburn and Ms Elizabeth Ralston, two American visitors accompanied them.

Dr. Amoako-Gyampah also complained that the hospital's theatre needed modern equipment and an incubator at the maternity ward. Rev. Fr. George Tang, Chaplain and the Acting Administrator of the hospital expressed gratitude to members of the Presbyterian Church Choir Union for presenting food items valued at more than two million cedis to patients on admission.

He appealed to other Churches to assist in efforts to improve conditions at the hospital.
