Patrick Yaw Boamah retains Okaikwei Central seat

The New Patriotic Party's parliamentary candidate for Okaikwei Central, Patrick Yaw Boamah, has retained his seat after the Electoral Commission declared him the winner of the just-ended general elections.

The Deputy Returning Officer for Okaikwei Central, Harrison Kwabena Agyapa, declared the results, stating that 141 polling station results had been fully collated per the court's order to collate the 31 outstanding polling stations.

Patrick Yaw Boamah emerged as the winner after the finalisation, securing 21,099 votes, while Abdulai Abu Baba Sadiq, representing the National Democratic Congress, received 19,368 votes.

Addressing the media following his victory, Yaw Boamah reaffirmed his confidence in the legal process saying, "we had to follow due process and we always believed that the numbers were not going to change. We thank God for a peaceful exercise and a peaceful declaration."
