Customers of Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) have been directed to pay their utility bills into the accounts of the Power Distribution Service (PDS) despite latest development in the agreement.
“Institutions and individuals having challenges as to as which accounts name to use in paying their bill should use PDS accounts”, Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer (PRO) of ECG, Erasmus Baidoo instructed.
The PRO who spoke on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM in an interview monitored by MyNewsGh.com, disclosed that no official communication has been received from the top managers of ECG, therefore, it is prudent customers pay their bills to PDS.
“We have not gotten any directive telling us we should not use the suspended PDS accounts. …again, if something is suspended, it does not mean it cannot be used forever”, Mr. Erasmus Baidoo told host, Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin.
The government has suspended its concession agreement with the Power Distribution Services (PDS) bringing back the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in full control.
The Minister of Energy, Peter Amewu, however, fears cancellation of the concession agreement with Power Distribution Services Ghana (PDS) could come with some consequential loss.
“We have through deep intelligence detected issues with those guarantees that were provided…they were not valid as a step we have taken measure to secure the assets of the state by suspending the concession agreement”, Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah also explained.
He, therefore, assured the government has taken steps to ensure distribution, billing and payment services continue uninterrupted.
