Accra, July 21, GNA - Management of Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) on Wednesday informed all stakeholders in the cocoa industry, particularly cocoa farmers that the Board had released GH¢25,500,108.71 to Licensed Buying Companies (LBCs) for payment of the second tranche of bonuses to cocoa farmers in July.
A statement issued in Accra and signed by Mr Anthony Fofie, Chief Executive Officer of COCOBOD said the payment was in fulfilment of government's pledge to pay bonuses twice a year to cocoa farmers.
It said the bonus to be paid was GH¢40 per tonne (16 bags) or GH¢2.50 per bag of 64 kg of cocoa.
The statement said all LBCs were to take note and comply accordingly, while COCOBOD assured cocoa farmers that it would continue to partner them towards continuous improvement of Ghana's cocoa industry.
It said the LBCs permitted to pay the bonuses were; Produce Buying Company Limited, Olam Ghana Limited, Akuafo Adamfo Marketing Company Limited, Adwumapa Buyers Limited, Federated Commodities Limited, Kuapa Kokoo Limited, Transroyal Ghana Limited, Armajaro Ghana Limited, Cocoa Merchants Ghana Limited, Diaby Company Limited, Dio Jean Company Limited, Sika Aba Buyers Limited, Royal Commodities Limited, Sompa Kokoo Company Limited, West African Exchange Company Limited, Chartwell Ventures Limited, Fereday Company Limited, Evadox Limited, Allied Commodities Limited, Ghana Co-operative Marketing Limited, Farmers Alliance Limited, Duapa Buyers Company Limited, Yayra Glover Limited, Abapa Golden Limited, CDH Commodities Limited and Aboafo Buyers Company Limited.
