Peace now prevails within NPP in Agona East Constituency

Agona Swedru, Nov. 28, GNA - The cold war that existed between Mr Ben Mensah, Agona District Chief Executive, Mr John Kwesi Agyabeng, Member of Parliament for Agona East and Nana Kojo Frempong, Agona East Constituency Chairman of New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been solved to pave way for peace and unity of the Party.

Nana Frempong, Agona East Constituency Chairman of NPP, announced this at the Constituency Delegates Conference held at the National Borstal Institute, near Agona Swedru.

The conference was held to strategise to retain the Parliamentary seat and improve on their performance 61.5 per cent to 66 per cent during the 2008 elections.

He therefore, appealed to supporters of the three personalities to bury their differences and unity in the interest of the Party. Nana Frempong noted that Polling Station Chairmen, activists, supporters and sympathisers of the Party did not enjoy the needed unity and co-operation of the three personalities in the Constituency because of the misunderstanding.

He cautioned members of the party who "benefited from the imaginary crack within the tripod to stop gossiping and strategise for the Party to retain the Parliamentary seat during the 2008 elections." The Constituency Chairman said Executives of the Party had embarked on some income generating activities to improve the living standards of polling station chairmen and the members to enable them work hard to ensure victory in 2008.

Mr Enoch Duodu, Agona East Constituency Secretary of NPP, said the executives had instituted an effective strategy to beat their opponents in 2008.

The Secretary presented their budget for 2005 and 2006 to the polling station chairmen. Mr John Kwesi Agyabeng, Member of Parliament for Agona East said the conference would afford members an opportunity to map out strategies, because there was the need to team up and avoid internal wrangling to ensure victory.

He pointed out that the Party had a Herculean task to elect a credible Presidential Candidate to lead the Party to victory in 2008. Mr Agyabeng called on the rank and file of the party to bury their political differences and unite to campaign for the Party. Mr Samuel Kweku Obodai, Member of Parliament for Agona West cautioned the members especially polling station chairmen to stop confusion among them to avoid disunity in the Party.
