Pentecost University College (PUC) was adjudged the Best Private University for Communication Studies in Ghana for 2019 at the just ended 13th Annual PUSAG Congress held at the All Nations University College in Koforidua.
The award is in recognition of the leading role PUC has played in the training of communication professionals for national development.
According the Programme Manager for Communication, Dr. Albert Anani Bossman the recognition emphasizes the commitment of PUC to deliver the best graduates for both industry and academia.
He noted that the communication studies unit has a rich blend of outstanding academics and industry players delivering practical based tutelage to students.
“We emphasise both in-depth theoretical knowledge and excellent practical delivery. We have seminar sessions during which industry players are invited to share best practices with students and coupled with the theoretical details the students usually turn out well,” he stated.
Pentecost University College is among the few private universities in Ghana which has a Radio Station with a license from the National Communication Authority.
The radio station, Pentvars Radio, 96.1FM, seeks to provide a platform for engaging the university community through educative, ethical and entertaining programmes.
The station also presents a platform for budding student talents to nurture their skills in broadcasting. Additionally, students are encouraged to have regular internships in commercial media organisation. The Church of Pentecost also has a TV Station (Pent TV) where students of the university go for practical internships.
