People of Akim Manso provide accommodation for new Assembly

The chiefs and people of Akim Manso have provided 42 rented accommodation to serve as administration block and staff residence in support of the creation of a new district assembly in Asene/Akroso/Manso constituency.

The new Asene/Manso District Assembly would be situated at the district capital - Manso in the Eastern Region.

This came to light when Mr Eric Kwakye Daffour, the Eastern Regional Minister inspected the rented offices and the residential accommodation of the assembly staff at Akim Manso on Tuesday.

He commended the chiefs and the people for their efforts towards the creation of the new district to bring more developmental projects to the area and assured them of a favourable response from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.

Mr Daffour called on the chiefs in the area to allow social harmony prevail among them so that the administration of the new assembly could generate enough income to complement the District Assembly Common Fund to support development projects.

Oberempon Sintim Opoku III, the Chief of Manso, who is also the Benkumhene of Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area expressed happiness at the Minister’s recognition of his people’s effort towards the new district.

He gave assurance that lands would be released for the construction of a permanent district assembly administration block and staff accommodation.

According to him, the Akim Manso is the head of Benkum Division of the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area, which has about 60 towns and villages under it.
