Lambussie U/W), Sep 15, GNA - The chiefs and people of Lambussie Traditional Area in the Jirapa/Lambussie District have expressed their disappointment at the exclusion of the area by Vice president Aliu Mahama during his recent visit to the region.

This was said on behalf of the Lambussie Kuoro, Iddrrisu Bamieh by his linguist, Tom Balonge, at a meeting the Regional Minister, Mr Ambrose Dery, held on Thursday with the chief to discuss maters relating to the development of the area.

The Lambussie Traditional Area is one of the two traditional areas comprising the Jirapa/Lambussie District but the Lambussie area is lagging behind Jirapa in terms of development, hence the meeting. When the minister asked them to ask any questions agitating their minds, the linguist asked the minister why the Vice President left out the area despite passing through the area to other places during the visit.

Mr Dery patiently explained to them the nature of the visit and said it was specifically to inspect some development projects in the region.

He said the exclusion of the area was not to spite the people and apologized on behalf of the Vice President. Mr Dery recalled a previous visit the Vice President made to Lambussie and said he did not visit some of the places he had visited on his recent tour.

He said the government had given approval for the establishment of one technical school in each region and that the regional ministers had been given the discretion to decide where to locate the new schools. Mr Dery said he had decided to locate the new technical school at Lambussie and appealed to the Paramount Chief to provide land for construction to begin.
